Mini-Workshop on AO Science

Adaptive optics (AO) is a transformative technology in astronomy, enabling ground-based telescopes to achieve resolution comparable to space-based observatories. Despite its potential, AO remains underutilized in Taiwanese astronomical research. To bridge this gap, we are organizing a Mini Workshop on AO Science to introduce the technology, its applications, and the future possibilities it offers.

This workshop is designed for researchers and students interested in learning about adaptive optics and its applications in modern astronomy. Through a series of presentations and discussions, we aim to provide a comprehensive introduction to AO and foster collaborations to promote its adoption in Taiwan.

Workshop Topics

  • Introduction to Adaptive Optics: Principles and Applications
  • AO Systems in Large Telescopes (e.g., Subaru ULTIMATE, GMT AO)
  • Case Studies: AO in Exoplanet Detection and Stellar Observations
  • Integrating AO with IFU Spectroscopy
  • Opportunities for AO Research in Taiwan

Join us in this unique opportunity to learn about adaptive optics and explore how this technology can transform your research. Whether you are an experienced researcher or a newcomer to AO, this workshop will provide valuable insights and practical knowledge. The workshop is scheduled in late 2025 or early 2026. Additional details will be announced soon.
