2026 TARA Summer Student Program

The 2026 TARA Summer Student Program One-Day Campus Visit was held on Monday, July 27, 2026, at the Institute of Astronomy and Astrophysics, Academia Sinica (ASIAA) and National Taiwan University (NTU), in Room 1203 of the Astronomy-Mathematics Building. All summer students took part in this full-day inter-institutional exchange event.

The program opened with an introduction to ASIAA by Dr. Chin-Fei Lee, Distinguished Research Fellow at ASIAA, followed by an introduction to NTU by Prof. Ting-Wen Lan, giving students an overview of the research environment and resources at both institutions. After a coffee break, students visited the Optical/Infrared Lab and the Radio Lab, introduced by Dr. Bo-Jhou Wang and Dr. Yuh-Jing Huang respectively, gaining first-hand exposure to instrument development and observational work at the forefront of astronomical research.

After lunch, the program featured two sessions of student presentations, giving the summer students an opportunity to share their research progress and preliminary results and to learn from one another. Between the two presentation sessions, students visited the Submillimeter Array (SMA) control room, where Mr. Sheng-Feng Yen introduced the control room's operations and real-time observing procedures, offering students deeper insight into the practical operation of a radio interferometer array.

Combining institutional introductions, a lab tour, a visit to an instrument control room, and student presentations, the one-day campus visit gave summer students from different universities a comprehensive look at each other's research directions and home institutions over the course of a single, intensive day, laying a solid foundation for continued collaboration throughout the summer program.
